Introduction

Brief: To design a poster for a pet bird festival event in San Jose.

Objective: To promote communication among pet bird lovers. To promote how to raise pet birds better.

Design elements: relaxed, enjoyable, fun and creative feeling.

Challenge: The style should be in line with a subculture aesthetics called E-girl.

Dimensions: 11*17 inches (Portrait)

Target audience: General public

Time Limit: One week.

Tool: Adobe Illustrator

Design Process

1. Looked into the E-girls subculture and find out what is its aesthetics and features. As a subculture aesthetic, the external characteristics of e-girls are very obvious and distinctive. However, the inner core of these features is to show the e-girls' attitude, to show their individuality and not to follow the crowd.

2. Visual Research: Base on the brief, list several Key Words:

birds, feather, girls, cute, young, colorful, heart, relaxed, enjoyable, fun, dynamic, vivid, decorative, Individuality, attitude.

3. Created three mood boards with different styles. Picked the one that best fits the style.

4. Generated ideas: Drew thumbnails and ideations on paper

5. Picked the best ideation refined it and started drew in Illustrator.
